2009 Proof Platinum Eagles

The United States Mint began a new series of reverse designs with the 2009 Proof Platinum Eagle. For six years, the designs will present the foundations of American democracy as presented through the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States.

The 2009 design features the concept "To Form a More Perfect Union" with a diversity theme. The coins were limited to a mintage of 8,000 and sold out at the US Mint within two weeks.
